What Is the Springfield Community Foundation?
The Springfield Community Foundation connects people, ideas, and resources with the goal of helping the Springfield community thrive.
The Foundation is an affiliated fund of Midlands Community Foundation and focuses its work around four main areas:

Those areas encompass learning and resources, creativity and culture, health and quality of life, and investment in the continued vitality of the community.

Investing Directly in Springfield
One of the most tangible ways the Springfield Community Foundation supports the area is through its Community Grant Program.
Each year, qualifying nonprofit and federally tax exempt organizations can apply for grants of up to $2,500.
There is an important local requirement.
Organizations receiving funding must provide services within the City of Springfield or the Springfield Platteview Community Schools district boundary, and the grant money must also be used within that area.
That means the impact of those grant dollars stays close to home.
The application period opens February 1 each year and closes February 28.

The Springfield Farmers Market
One of the Foundation’s most visible community initiatives is the Springfield Farmers Market.
The market takes place on the fourth Sunday of the month from June through September at 13600 Pflug Road in Springfield.
And there is still one more opportunity to visit in 2026.
The final Springfield Farmers Market of the season takes place Sunday, September 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The theme for the September market is Crisp Air and Harvest Fare.
Visitors can shop from a rotating group of local growers, makers, food vendors, boutiques, craftspeople, and small businesses.
The 2026 vendor list includes businesses offering eggs, breads, mushrooms, granola, jam, coffee, clothing, jewelry, woodworking, soaps, crafts, kettle corn, and plenty more.
Vendor participation varies by market date, so each Sunday can look a little different.
The Springfield Farmers Market is made possible with support from the Springfield Community Foundation and is hosted by Springfield American Legion Post 143 and Springfield VFW Post 9558.
It is the kind of Sunday morning activity that gives you a chance to shop local, grab something to eat, and spend a little time connecting with the Springfield community.
InspireHER Springfield
Another interesting program of the Springfield Community Foundation is InspireHER Springfield.
InspireHER is a collaborative of community focused women working to make an intentional impact in southern Sarpy County.
The idea is fairly simple.
Women contribute financially to the group, connect and collaborate with one another, and then collectively decide where those dollars can benefit the community.
Active membership begins with a minimum $100 contribution, and active members have voting privileges for that calendar year.
It creates a way for individual contributions to become something larger when they are combined.
It also gives women in Springfield and southern Sarpy County an opportunity to meet, collaborate, and become more involved in what is happening locally.
The Foundation currently has an InspireHER Holiday Event scheduled for Wednesday, November 18, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Veseli in Springfield.
More Ways to Connect This Fall
The Farmers Market is not the only upcoming event on the Foundation’s calendar.
The Springfield Community Foundation is also promoting a Vaccine Clinic on Sunday, October 4, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Springfield Community Building on Main Street.
Then comes the InspireHER Holiday Event in November.
The Foundation encourages residents to stay connected for information about current projects, events, volunteer opportunities, and other ways to participate in the community.
Springfield Days
The Foundation also maintains information and volunteer opportunities for one of Springfield’s biggest annual traditions: Springfield Days.
The next Springfield Days is scheduled for June 11 through June 13, 2027.
The annual celebration brings generations of Springfield residents together for a weekend of activities.
Traditions include the parade, duck races, foam party, car show, live music, and other community events.
It is one of those weekends that can tell you a lot about Springfield.
For longtime residents, Springfield Days is a familiar tradition.
